I 1st found out about Columbo from a discord friend of mine sending me vids of Gianni Matragano's impression of him.
I started watching it on streaming. Columbo is a show on basically every free streaming service in the USA.
However my father, who is also a fan, found it playing on a local TV station. So we started watching the episodes together.
It was fun trying to piece together what would give the killer away. What can I say about Columbo that hasn't been said before?
It's all been talked about before.
He comes off as rambling, friendly, slubby, and unassuming. But it's obvious to the audience that he's toying with the killer.
I could also talk about how the show avoids certain trappings of copoganda while playing into others.
I could talk about the class dynamics of the show. But a lot of this has been covered by people smarter than me.
I think the quality time spent over watching it added to my overall experience though. It's more slow paced than most shows today.
And I think the slower pace works in this case. It adds to the suspense and the lil cat & mouse game between Columbo and the killer.
